Resolutions Passed in the Fifth World Hindi Conference

  • The conference strongly supports a vibrant relationship between people of Indian origin and Hindi. It hopes that worldwide Indian diaspora will establish Hindi as a contact language and will help in preparing a world Hindi platform.
  • The conference reiterates its oft-repeated resolution that World Hindi Conferences should have a permanent secretariat. In keeping with the earlier resolution of the conference this secretariat should be set up in Mauritius. An inter-governmental committee should be formed for this jointly by the governments of Mauritius and India. This committee should consist of committed littérateurs in sufficient number in addition to official representatives. The committee will place before the governments of Indian and Mauritius a comprehensive programme duly taking into account various aspects of the secretariat related set up.
  • This conference requests the governments of all countries especially those with people of Indian origin to make arrangements for study and teaching of Hindi at different levels.
  • In view of the support extended to Hindi language globally, the conference requests the voluntary organization and Hindi scholars engaged in the promotion of Hindi in the countries with large Indian diaspora to request their respective governments to extend diplomatic supports for inclusion of Hindi as one of the languages of the UN.
  • The conference welcomes the decision of the Govt. of India to set up Mahatma Gandhi Anterrashtriya Vishwavidyala and hopes that this would give a desired thrust to Hindi.
