12th World Hindi Conference: Media Launch

The 12th World Hindi Conference is being organized by the Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the Government of Fiji from 15 to 17 february 2023 in Fiji. The decision to organize the 12th World Hindi Conference in Fiji was taken at the 11th World Hindi Conference held in Mauritius.

The first World Hindi Conference was held in 1975 in Nagpur, India. Since then, 11 such conferences have been organized in different parts of the world. The details of 11 conferences held so far are as follows:

The Ministry of External Affairs is the nodal ministry for the 12th World Hindi Conference. Various committees have been constituted for organizing the conference in a systematic and smooth manner.

The main theme of the conference is "Hindi – Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence".

The venue of the conference is Denarau Island Convention Center, Nadi, Fiji.

Several exhibitions related to the development of Hindi language will be organized at the conference venue. Cultural programmes and Kavi Sammelan is also proposed to be organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi during the Conference.

A conference report will be compiled based on the discussions and suggestions put forth at the Conference, apart from the daily news bulletins (conference-news). a Conference-Souvenir and compilation of academic sessions is also proposed to be brought out. A special issue of "Gagananchal" will be brought out by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations which will be dedicated to the Conference. Similarily, other academic and linguistic organisations are also expected to take out special editions of Hindi publications brought out by them.

As per the past practice, during the Conference, Hindi scholars from India and other countries will be honored with "Vishwa Hindi Samman" for their special contribution in the field of Hindi.

A “LOGO” design competition is being organized by the Ministry with a prize money of Rs.75 thousand for coming up with a suitable “Logo” for the 12th World Hindi Conference.

A website "vishwahindisammelan" has been created for the conference and can be visited for all the relevant information related to the conference. Updating of this website is dynamic process, as and when more information is available.
